Mashing up Olympic data

Slightly surprised that there have been no Olympics-related posts yet, given so many Library colleagues are following the Olympics at home and at breaktime; Mitchell even booked annual leave to watch them!  The Guardian notes Lessons to be learned from the first social media Olympics, while the Pew Research Centre notes that Eight-in-Ten [American are] following Olympics on TV or digitally.

In particular, there are many  opportunities to analyse and mash Olympic data.  As always, I turn to the Guardian Data section (“these Olympics are a gift for Data journalism”) for enlightenment: London 2012 Olympics data. The data and statistics search tool  Zanran can also offer a range of data visualisations related to the Olympics if you search on Olympics (use additional terms to narrow down the results).
